Moodle CMS Helps Schools To Improve Educational Experience?

Moodle (Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment) has become the latest application added to PowerTools, Host Color’s autoinstaller software library. This is a course management system designed to help teachers who want to create and conduct online courses. The application is popular among in schools and academic institutions. It is also used by many companies and independent teachers.
My own experience with Moodle is short (I’m deailing with it for less than an week) but I’m impressed by the system’s functionality. It is dfinitely a comprehensive tools that can really help both educators and students to better teach and learn.
Mooodle’s Features
It is a Multi OS CMS that runs without modification on Unix, Linux, Windows, Mac OS X, Netware and any other system that supports PHP. The CMS is designed in a modular way, which means it is very flexible. Another good thing is that site owners can upgrade Moodle very easily from one version to the next, because it has an internal system to handle database upgrades.
Moodle requires only one database. It includes comprehensive database abstraction that supports many major brands of database. The software team which develops Moodle has paid strong attention on system’s security. Forms are all checked, data validated, cookies encrypted and etc.
The development team says that the software promotes social constructionist pedagogy, a method which includes collaboration, activity-based learning, and critical reflection.
Moodle is suitable both for online teaching and for use as supplemental face-to-face learning system. It comes with simple, lightweight, efficient, compatible, low-tech browser interface.
Course listings show descriptions for every course on the server. Courses are accessible to guests as well as to be categorised and easily searched. Another advantage is that text entry areas (resources, forum postings, journal entries and etc.) can be edited through WYSIWYG HTML editor.
