At the time when Host Color set a price of .com, .net, .org web addresses at $9.95 per year, most of the domain registrars were still offering the general TLDs to be obtained at $9+ per month. So we were not really hip.

An year ago GoDaddy was still very popular (and also preferred) domain registrar because the company managed to offer under $10/year domain name. However ICANN decided to raise domains fees and the low cost domain name registration is now over. Even the market leader mentioned above has decided to increase prices and now  charging $10+ for domain registration. This is changing the market of domain registration, but this change is a subject to research and analytical articles, it is not the topic of this blog post.

We keep Domain registration @ $9.95/year

We have published this article to say that Host Color is still offering Domain registration at $9.95/year. The domain registrars we partner with applied the new increased ICANN fees so we are now buying the domains at higher prices than we used to. Now Host Color earns around $0.45 per domain registered from our customers. It is fine! We decided not to increase the price of general TLD’s. So you can still buy - COM, NET. ORG, BIZ, INFO, NAME, WS (4+ letters) at $9.95 per year.

We have never planned to make money out of offering domain registration and our objective has always been different - to offer our own web hosting customers low cost domain registration.
